UMD's Darmody Adds Corporate Relations to his Portfolio

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development Brian Darmody is adding to his portfolio the newly created position of University Director of Corporate Relations.

In the new role, Darmody will help coordinate corporate outreach and develop additional corporate partnerships in support of the Great Expectations capital campaign. He will report to both the University's Vice President for University Relations Brodie Remington and to Vice President for Research Pat O'Shea.

Darmody will remain based in the Division of Research, where he is responsible for developing projects, funding opportunities, and policies to support partnerships with the private and government sectors. He's expected to spend up to half his time in the new role, and to maintain the arrangement for the next year.

Also, Darmody will continue his work as special assistant vice chancellor for technology development at the University System of Maryland.

He is a member of the Maryland Venture Authority Board, the Maryland Technology Council Board of Directors and is past president of the Association of University Research Parks.

Previously, Darmody served as the University's director of federal and state relations, worked in the University's legal office, in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Maryland General Assembly before coming to UMD.
