Hispanic Heritage Month: Sept. 15- Oct. 15

Hispanic Heritage Month is designed to celebrate the cultural richness brought to America by individuals of Spanish decent.

The anniversary starts on September 15 - independence day for five Latin American countries -- Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Hispanic Heritage Month is being celebrated on campus in a number of ways - please see the information provided by Latino Student Services and Community Advocacy.

The University of Maryland has a number of experts who can comment on a wide range of issues facing Hispanics in the United States. Please contact Senior Media Relations Associate Dave Ottalini at (301)-405-4076 if you can not find what you need in this list.
