Expertise Credentials:
Prof. Hultman's research focuses on international climate policy, decisions about climate risks in policy and private sector investment, and the emerging markets for carbon and greenhouse gases. Dr Hultman has participated in the UN climate process starting with the Kyoto meeting in 1997 and has attended and presented at subsequent negotiations and advisory sessions. From 2006-2007, Hultman was a Visiting Fellow at the James Martin Institute for Science and Civilization, University of Oxford. A former Fulbright Fellow and NASA Earth Systems Science Fellow in climate sciences, Dr Hultman has also conducted research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Before joining the University of Maryland, he held a faculty appointment at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Washington DC. Prof Hultman is also Associate Director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; and Associate Fellow at the Martin Institute, Oxford University.
He has appeared on PBS NewsHour, BBC World Service, CNN, Bloomberg, Fox Business, NHK Japan, German Television News. He has been interviewed on BBC Radio, BBC Radio Live (UK), Diane Rehm (NPR), Kojo Nnamdi (WAMU-NPR), Deutsche Welle. He has been quoted in the New York Times, Financial Times, Washington Post, Economist Intelligence Unit, Los Angeles Times, Science, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Xinghua, Exame (Brazil), Correio Braziliense (Brasília), Al-Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Sankei Shimbun (Japan), Washington Observer, Washington Times, and Geotimes.
